Stennydent Drumpellier titlehopes

-

Drumpellier’s promotion push was dented with a loss to Stenhousemuir by 20 runs on Saturday in Western District Cricket Union Division One.

The result saw the club sink to fourth with Kelburn winning and East Kilbride versus Ayr cancelled.

Stenhousemuir started brightly and smashed 24, but then the Drumpellier bowlers got on top of them with 13 runs coming of the next nine overs.

The opening partnership was ended at 58 when Chris Mcdonald caught Kayden off the bowling of Leslie and with the batsmen crossed, Sultan went next ball, caught behind by Allison off Leslie in a double wicket maiden.

Stenhousemuir recovered from this double blow and Hollis and Townsend put on a partnership of 47 before a change of bowling, bringing back Jack Pryde, removed Hollis for 30. In Pryde’s next three overs he removed Lister, Grant and Laing to take Stenhousemuir from 123-3 to 138-7.

Ten runs later it was 148-8 when

Drew Pryde had Moses out LBW but Stenhousemuir rallied with Rodgers and Pinnamameni putting 30 on in the next four overs, before Rodgers chipped the ball to cover to the waiting arms of Jack Pryde.

The last wicket was to take 11 runs with Pinnamameni and Thuker, before Thuker went LBW to Leslie, leaving Stenny all out for 188.

Drumpellier started off at a snail’s pace and were 7-1 when Nick Pyne was out for three and Allison and J Pryde put 49 runs on in 22 overs.

Allison was out for 21 LBW and then, in the 30th over, J Pryde went for 30 with the score at 71-3.

It was 105-5 when C Keltie went for 18 in the 36th over, then the middle order decided to throw caution to the wind with Leslie doing the damage.

Chris Mcdonald fired 27 off four overs before going out for 6 , backed up by A Raza and J Allison, who lost their wickets in the run chase and had brought the score to 161-8 .

With 18 balls left and 22 runs needed, W Leslie was stumped when he took one too many chances marching down the wicket to swipe a ball for six but missed, and the wicket keeper swiftly took the bails off with him on 40.

The game ended in the last ball of the over when Khan was bowled with Pinnamameni taking 5 for 45 off 9 overs.

Drumpellier are at home to Irvine this weekend.
