Left-back still on Reid’s wish list

-

Albion Rovers remain in the market for a left-back ahead of the transfer window closing at the end of the month.

But boss Brian Reid admits he’ll only be able to recruit a young loan player at best to help bolster the Cliftonhill squad before Tuesday’s deadline.

The club don’t have a natural left-back in their squad and have turned to Sean Fagan and Jamie Leslie as cover so far this term, which has seen Rovers pick up one win in their first four games.

So Reid is still working hard to improve that position. He said:“we are always looking, but it’s probably going to be a loan, if anything.

“We are still looking for a left-back because we haven’t got a natural left-back at the club. That’s not taking anything away from big Fagey and Jamie Leslie, who have done really well in there, but to be fair to them it’s not their natural position.

“They are doing okay in there at the moment, so we’ll just have to go with that until circumstances change. I’m trying to get someone in, but there is no guarantee of that.”

Reid hopes he will be able to entice a talented youngster to the club with the possibility of regular first team football but added:“money comes into it as well.

“If somebody is looking for too much, that rules us out.

“It’s not just as easy as taking someone in and we might need to look at favours from clubs in terms of our budget to bring someone in.

“Most players looking at coming here, it should be about development at this level anyway.

“We’ll just need to wait and see.”
