Tributes pour in for ‘a gentleman.. a lovely man’
Tributes have been paid to a Coatbridge man whose body was discovered at a park in the town.
Paul Mcmullen, who had been reported missing on Sunday afternoon, was found at Drumpellier Park at 9.10am the following day .
A statement from Police Scotland said:“paul’s family is aware. There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.”
The 40-year-old had last been seen in his car at Burleigh Street in Shawhead early on Sunday afternoon, and an urgent search was launched after he had failed to return home.
Police had checked local CCTV and shared missing person appeals online as they searched for Paul.
Hundreds of people paid tribute and expressed their condolences online as Lanarkshire police division announced the sad news of his passing.
Marcus O’donohue wrote:“rip – you were a gentleman, mate; so sad to hear about this”, while Danielle Doonan said: “Heartbreaking. Paul was such a lovely man; thinking of family and friends.”
Jackie Rodger said:“he was a great guy – fly high Paul. Thinking of his family at this sad time.”
Leeann Harty called Paul“a good guy taken too soon”, and Fiona Hughes added:“such tragic news. Thoughts are with all his family and friends – RIP Paul.”
Angela Mitchell Mills wrote:“passed this morning during my walk and was praying for it not to be sad news. Thoughts and prayers with the family and friends.”
Many more shared similar messages of sympathy to Paul’s loved ones, calling the news“heart breaking ,” with Allan Anderson posting :“thinking of all the family. Such a lovely family and so kind, a real tragedy. RIP.”
