Knights are the Star of Sony Showcase

-

Sony managed to pack an awful lot into its just 40-minute streamed Showcase last week— giving fans a taster of the top titles coming to PS5 in the coming months and years.

But, perhaps unexpectedly, maybe the unveiling of a remake had the most impact.

Nearly 20 years after it debuted, fan-favourite Star Wars RPG Knights of the Old Republic is getting a remake from the ground up for the new-generation console.

“Our hope is to give both series newcomers and long-term fans an experience that can live alongside the very best modern releases,” said Ryan Treadwell, Lead Producer at Aspyr Media.

The game offers a diverse cast of characters to meet, multiple planets to discover, challenging battles to fight, and cinematic storytelling that responds to the choices you make — but there wasn’t even any gameplay shown off, so don’t expect this one for a while.

While on the subject of remakes, we also got a first look at a trailer for Grand Theft Auto V and Online on the PS5, though it has been delayed to next March.

One surprising announcement was just a sneak peek at Marvel’s Wolverine — which is still in early development by Insomniac, whose Marvel’s Spider-man 2, due next year, was also shown off.

Gran Turismo 7 is due out next March 4 on both PS4 and PS5 and promises the most realistic racer yet — and a returning Campaign mode.

And the show ended with a look at God of War Ragnarok — with Kratos and Atreus set to face off against a bloodthirsty Thor.
