Not a great Omen to ape genre classic

- The Prodigy

When a horror featuring a disturbing young boy causing mayhem comes around you immediately think The Omen.

But while The Prodigy doesn’t come close to even matching the 1976 classic, it does steer clear of totally rehashing its story and scares.

Jackson Robert Scott’s Miles may share personality traits with just about every other possessed child to tear their way across the screen but it’s effective at times – especially during a sinister scene with Colm Feore’s“re-birth expert”– and some of Miles’attacks are bullishly brutal.
