Jab staff being subjected to abuse at vaccine clinics

-

NHS Lanarkshire has revealed staff have suffered verbal abuse and aggression while administering the Covid and flu vaccines.

The health board took to social media following reports of a number of worrying incidents at drop-in clinics across the county.

In a statement on its Facebook page, NHS Lanarkshire stated:“we would like to remind people that spaces are limited at our drop-in clinics and are run on a first-come first-served basis.

“This information is clearly stated on our website and social media messages.

“We could reach the capacity of drop-in spaces at any point throughout the advertised time.

Our teams are working hard to deliver the flu vaccine, Covid-19 vaccine and vaccine booster.

“Sadly, some of them have been subjected to verbal abuse or aggression which will not be tolerated. Please treat them with respect.

“The number of people attending our vaccination clinics has significantly increased as we are now offering Covid booster and flu vaccination appointments.

“This means that we have had to reduce the number of drop-in clinics, compared to what we have offered since June.

“Our website will be updated when further drop-in clinics have been confirmed.”
