Police on the hunt for vehicle firebug

Police are hunting for a man who set fire to a car parked in a Coatbridge street.

The incident, which is being treated as “wilful fireraisin­g”, took place at around 8pm last Tuesday, October 26, on the town’s Bankhead Avenue.

A black Mercedes 4x4 was torched by a male suspect who was “dressed in dark clothing”.

Detective David Williamson, of Lanarkshir­e CID, the Advertiser: “Thankfully, the fires were safely extinguish­ed by the fire brigade and there were no injuries as a result.

“We are appealing to anyone with informatio­n on the incident, and to any motorists in the area at that time that may have dash-cam footage.
