All kicking off for Nathan
Airdrie singing sensation Nathan Evans will join a whole host of his fellow celebrities to kick off COP26.
The Wellerman hit-maker will pull on his boots and gear up alongside Labour leader Anas Sarwar, Mrs Brown’s Boys star Gary Hollywood, lottery winner Jane Park, Football Daft host Stephen Purdon and climate scientist Professor Mark Maslin for footie match A Game Of History in Hamilton as part of the climate change conference in Glasgow.
DJ George Bowie will spin the tunes while fellow radio jock Suzie Mcguire will hand out the half-time oranges at the big match this Sunday.
Nathan and his teammates will join football pros including Derek Ferguson, John Hartson and Frank Mcavennie and other climate change experts on the pitch at Hamilton Academical’s Fountain of Youth Stadium for the fun eco game which aims to raise awareness of the climate crisis during the landmark summit in Glasgow.
Cash raised will be donated to Blameless, a charity that helps combat “eco-anxiety”among young people.
Nathan said:“it’s amazing getting to play football and raise money and awareness for such a worthwhile charity.
“I was recently at the Scotland football game with Martin Compston so it’s nice to play after watching that.
“There’s some big names I’ll be on the pitch with and I’m a huge football fan so I can’t wait.
“I still play seven-a-side on my days off and I used to play Sunday league football with an amateur team.”
Kick off for the match on Sunday is at 6pm and tickets are available via https://buy.venueserve.com/ f9782fa6-252c-11ec-9119a69f88fe578b
