THE BORDERS RAILWAY LINE

-

The rolling hills, heathered moors and historical sights of south-east Scotland can be reached by the Borders Railway Line.

It connects Edinburgh with Galashiels and Tweedbank, where you’ll find Sir Walter Scott’s impressive home, Abbotsford. The house is an incredible love letter to the Romantic era of British history, and one that has been immaculately preserved over the years.

Melrose Abbey is also a must-see with its museum. Robert the Bruce’s heart is said to be buried in the centuries-old monastery.

The town is a lovely place to explore, with some great shops including the awardwinning Mainstreet Trading Company, a quirky bookshop, cafe and deli.

If you’re looking for authentic tartan, Lochcarron of Scotland Visitor Centre in Selkirk offers bespoke tailoring as well as kilts, jackets and knitwear.
