Tom Hardy in a cardigan driving a car for 85 minutes might not sound too thrilling but Steven Knight’s engrossing character study delivers twists and turns in spades.

The claustrophobic solo setting and terrific lead star help build tension to seat-grabbing levels.

Every phone call is fraught with potential stress, woe and danger.

Hardy’swelsh accent takes a little while to get used to but there aren’t many actors who could pull off this type of solo performance.

It’s just a pity Knight followed this up with critically panned 2019 thriller Serenity.
