An Airdrie group is one of six Lanarkshire projects set to benefit from more than £3 million in the UK Community Renewal Fund.
An impressive £503,880 has been given to Airdrie Central Community Engagement Project – an organisation which aims to help people in Airdrie Central who are unemployed or in insecure work.
The funding will be used to engage local people and businesses, and increase skills and employability at a community level.
Chancellor Rishi Sunak has awarded the cash-pot on behalf of the UK Government to a range of employment and enterprise projects.
Scottish Conservative MSP for the Central Scotland region Graham Simpson said: “This is a huge investment into our local communities from Rishi Sunak and the UK Government. This funding will help improve skills and employability in our local communities – making a real difference to the lives of local people.
“This welcome boost from the Chancellor demonstrates the benefits and support Lanarkshire gains from being part of a strong UK.”
