Private investigators take on cases of cats being poisoned by antifreeze
Private investigators have been called in to hunt down whoever has been poisoning cats with antifreeze throughout Lanarkshire in the last few years.
A heartbroken pet owner has called in the sleuths after losing two cats – and possibly a third – to deliberate poisoning.
Now with other cats recently suffering a similar fate, private investigators have launched an urgent appeal to get leads from the public.
The owner, who asked not to be named, said that it was in 2018 that he had lost his two cats. After tests were carried out, it was confirmed the cause of death in the case of both moggies, which were called Sparky and Shaia, was ethylene glycol. It is commonly sold as antifreeze.
David Harris of Impartial Investigations said:“our appeal for tipoffs is already on social media in Lanarkshire and has been generating community comment and theories.
“We have been studying the trends and the spates of cat poisonings tend to be roughly in the same areas around Scotland.”
Anyone with information about the cat poisonings is asked to call the investigators’24-hour voicemail line on 0800 887 0111 or email them at cats@ mm.st
