Blood session takes place at community centre
A blood-giving session will be held in Airdrie today – by appointment only.
Gartlea Community Centre is hosting the event and people can book their time slot now.
The Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service has 18,000 active donors in Airdrie and this will mark its fourth visit to the town this year.
A spokesperson for the organisation told the Advertiser:“we always have a great response from Airdrie donors, but we need to welcome more.
“We would love to see more young donors come forward to give blood for the first time. New donors in the 17-to-19 age bracket have dropped by 25 per cent this year.
“Sixty-one per cent of Airdrie donors are female, so we need more males.
“Currently 60 per cent of donors are booking via their online account, so you can create yours now. Every time you give blood you can save or improve the lives of up to three people.”
