Waysiders docked more points

-

Waysiders/drumpellier were docked four points after only 10 players were available for their Tennent’s West League 1 clash at Clydebank.

That’s seven points the Langloan side have been docked for unavailability this season, leaving them on -1 at the foot of the table, despite picking up four points from last week’s win over Uddingston.

General manager Gerry Brankin is frustrated, but says he need to learn more about the current injury situation.

He said:“the four we got last week were taken straight back off us.

“I don’t know what it was but we ended up with nine or 10 players, predominantly backs, but I don’t know what the excuses were.

“It’s disappointing and it’s frustrating, that’s seven points we’ve lost this season, but I can’t really say I’m angry about it because I don’t know the full circumstances.

“There will be genuine reasons; we’ve had a couple of our younger key players who have only played maybe one game this season because of injury.

“There’s nothing you can do if they have injuries, we don’t have a big enough squad that we can carry them.

“I think we’re now at the stage where we just need to try and hold on for the rest of the season.”

W/D now face a derby clash at home to Dalziel, but Brankin is confident – if they can get a team together.

He said: “That will be a tough one, even though their results aren’t particularly going their way.

“If we can get the squad that we had against Uddingston then we’ll give them a game of it.”
