Pensioner hit by car at crossing
A 79-year-old woman was taken to hospital after she was hit by a car at a pedestrian crossing.
The “serious road crash” happened last Wednesday, December 15, on the A725 around 6.10pm.
Police officers say the elderly woman was hit by a silver Peugeot 208 as she crossed at Coatbank Street, near to its junction with Faraday retail park.
The woman was taken to Wishaw General before being transferred to the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Glasgow where staff describe her condition as “serious but stable”.
The 42-year-old male driver of the car was uninjured.
