Hunt for driver who fled crash scene

Police in Monklands have launched a manhunt for a driver who fled the scene after being involved in a crash at a roundabout on the off-slip of the M8 motorway at Chapelhall.

Officers received a report of the crash, on the A8 westbound near to J6 of the M8, around 10.45am on Sunday.

On arrival, they found that the driver had left the scene.

Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver and into the circumstances surrounding the crash, which left the roundabout partially blocked to traffic while police attended the scene.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “we received a report of a crash involving one car on the A8 westbound near to Chapelhall, around 10.45am on Sunday, December 19.

“The driver left the scene prior to police arrival. Enquiries are ongoing into the circumstances of the crash and to trace the driver.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101, quoting incident 1353 of December 19, 2021.”
