Festive tonic for Women’s Aid

-

Nationwide’s Airdrie branch cashed in on a hugely successful toy appeal.

Over the past few weeks an enormous collection of toys and gifts have been donated for youngsters across Monklands.

Carol Fleming, manager of the building society’s branch, said: “for the last few years our Airdrie Nationwide branch has done a toy appeal on behalf of our local Women’s Aid and our members have been so generous in helping us to support this over the years.

“This year we have been able to gather a fantastic number of gifts due to staff and member donations.

“And we would like to thank our members for their kindness and generosity, especially at these difficult times.”

Sacks full of gifts and toys were handed over to staff at Monklands Women’s Aid in the town’s Bank Street office.

Carol told us: “the staff at Monklands Women’s Aid were delighted with all the gifts, books and toiletries and will ensure they are distributed throughout the area.”

A spokeswoman for Monklands Women’s Aid added: “we are enormously grateful to the staff and customers of Nationwide branches in Airdrie and Coatbridge for their generous donation of toys and gifts for the children we support.

“You really are making a difference in people’s lives. Rest assured that your donations will put smiles on many faces come Christmas morning.”
