A new organisation has been launched to support the Monklands community.

The Airdrie & Coatbridge 41 Club is an “extension of the Round Table family” which was well known and respected in its time.

The new club was inaugurated during a special event at the Inglewood House and Spa Hotel in Alloa.

Peter Woods, national president of 41 Clubs, was among the guests and he presented the Monklands club’s chairman Gordon Millar with a charter and gave a “warm welcome” to the organisation.

Iain Jamieson, vice-chairman of the Airdrie & Coatbridge 41 Club, told the Advertiser: “This club is an extension of the Round Table family.

“I’m extremely proud to be part of this club, which will continue to support and serve our local community.

“It’s an exciting time for everyone involved and we can’t wait to get down to work in Airdrie and Coatbridge.

“The inauguration event was fantastic and we were delighted that Peter Woods came along, and gave the club such a warm welcome.”

National membership officer Glen Lyon added: “I’m thrilled to welcome the new 41 Club from Airdrie and Coatbridge to the national association of 41 Clubs.

“We are sure the organisation will prove to be an invaluable addition to the association, and wish its members all the very best for the future.”
