Night buses will aid travel from Lanarkshire to and from Glasgow

First Bus has vowed to support the night-time economy with night buses returning on several Lanarkshire routes.

A total of 11 services have been reintroduced and as well as supporting festive revellers to return home safely in the early hours of Saturday and Sunday mornings, First also say the move will help those working night shifts in Glasgow too, as well as taking the pressure off taxi shortages in the city centre and beyond.

Graeme Macfarlan, commercial director at First Bus, said:“we’re absolutely delighted to announce the return of First Glasgow’s night bus network. We’re aware that citizens across the city have found getting home after a night out or indeed after a night shift a challenge, even more so in the face of the shortage of taxis that the city seems to be experiencing.

“We’re, therefore, proud to be able to support the city’s night-time economy by being in the position to offer a network of night bus services at the weekend that will connect the city centre with most areas of Glasgow and beyond.
