Cycling funding welcomed BYMSP
Airdrie & Shotts MSP Neil Gray has welcomed the announcement that two facilities in his constituency are to receive funding from the Scottish Government and sportscotland to invest in new cycling tracks.
St Philips School in Airdrie ands Shotts Getting Better Together have both been allocated £50,000 from the Cycling Facilities Fund to build pump tracks at their sites to promote health and fitness as well as give grassroots sport a boost following on from the success of the Team GB cyclists at the Tokyo Olympics.
Mr Gray said: “Cycling is a great activity for everyone to participate in and for two local groups to receive funding to help promote this is a fantastic boost to the area.
“It not only helps to build fitness and, therefore, promote wellbeing, it is great for the environment. I really look forward to seeing the two new tracks at GBT and St Philips being used by cyclists of all ages when they are completed.”
