Promoting area for businesses

-

A new website has been launched by North Lanarkshire Council to promote the area for businesses looking to set up or expand operations in Scotland.

The Invest in North Lanarkshire site highlights the area’s location and transport infrastructure, skilled workforce, access to technology and innovation, and support for business.

“North Lanarkshire is the ideal location for any business,” said council leader Jim Logue.

“We have 8355 businesses with a turnover of £15.9bn already here and they will testify to the benefits of this area.

“There’s been a 24 per cent increase in the number of businesses in North Lanarkshire in the last ten years, and recently we’ve welcomed some of the biggest household names including Lidl, Morrisons DPD and Brewdog.

“We have a highly skilled workforce and half the population of Scotland, a significant customer base, is on North Lanarkshire’s doorstep.

“With private and public sector partners the council is investing in key projects such as the regeneration of the Ravenscraig site, the largest brownfield site in Europe, a transport interchange at Motherwell station, the continued expansion of Eurocentral, and a key road link between the M74 in the south and the M8 at Cumbernauld.

“The council and Business Gateway Lanarkshire also offer strong support to the business community with funding, training, help to find accommodation, and skills development.

“So, our message is clear – North Lanarkshire is the place to invest for a positive, prosperous future.”

Over the last year, inward investment has continued to strengthen the area with multi-million-pound developments in place or underway.

These include a £10m state of the art sales and service centre for fleet solution provider Scania GB on a 7.8 acre plot at Eurocentral.
