Strum-thing spectacular

-

Coatbridge music group 50rpm have secured a cracking coup by landing the only Scottish date for world-renowned virtuoso guitarist Alexandr Misko on his upcoming short UK tour.

The multi-award winning Russian composer will be playing at the town’s Georgian Hotel on Friday, March 1.

It has been quite a rise for the young musician, who built a huge following on Youtube, Tiktok and Instagram with his innovative and unusual guitar style.

The video of him covering George Michael’s Careless Whisper racked up more than 80 million views on Facebook and Youtube in under a month.

Heavily influenced by the likes of renowned guitarists Jon Gomm and Andy Mckee, Alex has developed his own style which sees him play drums, bass and melody on one guitar at the same time to stunning effect.

He has also crossed over into the rap and hip-hop world by using the acoustic guitar to create complex rhythms and melodies for him to rap over, even catching the attention of Eminem.

Now based in Germany, Alex has been playing sell-out tours in China, the Far East and Europe, and is now heading to the UK for a short tour between recording commitments.

Alex said:“i have never played a show in Scotland before so I am excited to be heading there.

“I have heard from other musicians like Jon Gomm and John Goldie just how fantastic a gig 50rpm is and how welcoming the audience is there, so it is great to be coming to play in a place that goes out of its way to support live music.”

The show is an all-ages gig, although under-18s must be accompanied by an adult, with doors opening at 7.30pm.

Tickets are available now by visiting www.50rpm. co.uk
