Paw-litical power at competition

-

An MSP from Lanarkshire is looking to take the lead and wow judges with her prized pooch.

Meghan Gallacher and a Dogs Trust rescue dog will compete with other politicians and their canine companions to win the coveted title of Holyrood Dog of the Year.

Dogs of all shapes and sizes, regardless of breed, creed or‘pawlitical’ persuasion, will be strutting their stuff with their MSP owners, as they head to the Scottish Parliament Gardens in Edinburgh on April 29 to see who will be crowned top dog.

Organised jointly by Dogs Trust and The Kennel Club, the competition offers the chance for Central Scotland MSP Ms Gallacher to show off her four-legged friend and celebrates the unique bond between dogs and owners.

The event also encourages open dialogue on dog welfare issues in addition to providing an opportunity for MSPS to meet with experts to discuss all aspects of the canine world.

Ms Gallacher said:“i took part in Holyrood Dog of the Year in 2023, so once I found out there was an opportunity to be involved again, it was an absolute no-brainer.

“It is a brilliant mix of fun and laughter, whilst also raising awareness for brilliant organisations such as The Kennel Club and Dogs Trust, which I am both very passionate about.

“Not all four-legged companions are given the best start in life, so being able to showcase these animals in such a way where all the fuss is on them, really warms the heart and gives them the attention they so desperately deserve.”
