Website offering youths support

-

North Lanarkshire Council has unveiled a new website to cater to the needs of young people who have moved out of care and into adulthood.

The website has been designed and produced with care experienced youngsters and the help of local supports and services.

The platform offers a comprehensive array of resources, information, and connections to services across the region.

It provides both care-experienced people and staff a one-stop-shop for information and support services, and aims to make the move to independent living easier by providing all the information needed in one place.

Whether it’s guidance on housing, education, employment, or health services, the website serves as a central point for information.

Councillor Michael Mcbride, convener of children, families and education, told the Advertiser:“this is an excellent resource and marks a significant stride towards enhancing support for care-experienced individuals, so that they can quickly and easily access the assistance they require, based on their individual circumstances and needs.”

The new website features an extensive directory of support services available in North Lanarkshire.

From mentoring programs to mental health resources, users can easily locate and connect with organisations dedicated to aiding care-experienced individuals.

Users can delve deeper into specific topics by watching informative videos or directly accessing the areas of interest to them.

The launch of the aftercare website marks a significant milestone in North Lanarkshire’s commitment to supporting care-experienced individuals.

By providing a central platform for information, guidance, and connections to essential services, the website empowers care leavers to navigate the challenges of adulthood with confidence.
