Airgun World - - Points Of You - PHIL

A while ago I returned your ‘ideas survey’ sheet, but recently have had another thought that you might like: It could apply to either AGW or AG and concerns the editorial written by you and Phill Price respectively. Why not introduce a ‘guest editorial’ to be written by one of your regular contributors; a different contributor each month? Once the list of contributors is used up, the process repeats itself. The topic would be of the contributor’s choice, but should not be simply a rehash of their regular magazine topic. You and/or Phill would, of course have total editorial control. This would be necessary to ensure that the reputation of the magazine is not endangered and that any editorial is not deemed to be encouraging unlawful activity.

The possibility of not having an editorial due to a contributor not delivering could be overcome, mostly, by running a month or two in hand.

Contributors would be given maybe three months notice for their production date.

I have seen a similar system work very well in various journals. It provides the guest editor the opportunity to impart information and raise issues that might not otherwise be voiced. Even controversial topics could be covered, indeed maybe encouraged.

It might also bring benefits to you and Phill in that there might be a small reduction in your workload, although I do not expect this to be much because there would be some extra organisational effort involved.
