WHERE THERE’S A WHEEL …

Airgun World - - Points Of You -

I have an Air Arms 510 carbine and I’ve just bought a Hawke Sidewinder FFP. My problem is, when I put the large wheel on I can’t get the mag’ out. I’ve been in touch with Rowan, but they couldn’t help. I’ve read on-line that some people have cut a chunk out of their wheels, without much success. I was wondering if you had any idea on how I can resolve this. I’m new to this sport. I’ve only been doing it couple years, but I love it. I just do target shooting at the moment. My son and I go to John Bidwell’s place and shoot in the open air on Sundays. Love the mag, by the way. BOB SAUNDERS

Hi Bob, your problem is a common one and if a rifle loads its mag’ into the left-hand side of the action, as yours does, then apart from removing the sidewheel each time you insert a magazine, your only option is to have a section of the sidewheel removed. This can be a DIY job, but you’d probably be better off going to a local engineering firm to get it done. As ever, all suggestions from readers who have solved this problem will be welcome! – Ed

Unless your rifle’s magazines load into the right-hand side of the action, you could well be looking at a sidewheel modification.
