Take a Shot at sports scheme

ALDERSHOT TTownn FC Community Trust has joined forces with the National Citizen Service to offer youngsters the sporting holiday of a lifetime.

Teenagers aged 16 and 17 can enjoy two weeks of residentia­l sporting activities including sailing, climbing, canoeing and quad biking, followed by one or two weeks of activities that give something back to the local community, such as assisting coaching children in various sports and fundraisin­g for charities.

Week one, a stay at a sporting residentia­l centre in Wiltshire, will take place from July 28 to August 1; week two, staying at Reading University halls of residence, will take place from August 4-8. Weeks three and four will take place from August 11-22, when participan­ts will complete community work.

Places on the course cost £50 and all students will receive a certificat­e from the prime minister upon completion.
