Sharp suits and glorious gowns

A FLEET of vintage, flashy and gaudy sports cars and limousines ensured more than 200 pupils from a school in Frimley arrived in style at its annual leavers’ prom.

Some 220 Year 11s from Tomlinscote School descended on the Baronial Hall at Pine Ridge Golf Club last Thursday to celebrate the end of five years’ hard study.

Resplendent in an array of sharp suits and stunning dresses, the pupils began making their way up the red carpet at the prestigious golf club on a stunning summer’s evening. The theme of the evening, planned by Year 11 prefects and teachers, was ‘elegance’, and it proved to be an elegant affair.

Heads turned as the smiling faces emerged from vintage double decker buses, limos and Hummers.

Jamie Wilson and Cassandra Read were crowned prom king and queen while awards were given out for the best dressed and most elegant, with one boy even rocking a flamboyant pink suit. The evening started off with a delicious buffet, before later segueing into a disco and dance – with the music chosen by the students themselves.

Around 35 members of staff from the school in Tomlinscote Way attended as well to help send off this year’s cohort, with a spokesman for the school adding simply it had truly been a ‘most elegant’ evening.
