Party time for little creepy crawlies

-

BEES, dragonflies and ladybirds were out in force for an ugly bug ball at Westfields Infant School, in Yateley.

Year 1 pupils dressed as their favourite bugs for the party, held to mark the end of a classroom topic on mini beasts and their lifecycles. During the topic, children looked after caterpillars, watching them turn into chrysalises and emerge as butterflies.

The youngsters also went on mini-beast hunts to learn more about habitats.

Year 1 teacher Nicola Doe said: “This has been an amazing topic that has held the children’s interest from the start. They were fascinated by the butterflies and loved watching them fly around their heads after being set free.

“The ugly bug ball was a wonderful end to our topic, allowing the children to show what they had learnt while having fun.

“I would like to say well done to the children and parents for their creative costumes.”
