Rainforest musical is a sell-out performance
Pupils from Kings and three primary schools performed the Yanamano
MONTHS of rehearsal came to fruition at an all-singing, all-dancing end of year production at a Camberley school.
Pupils from Mytchett Primary, Grove Primary and South Camberley Primary joined youngsters at Kings International College performance of Yanamano.
More than 100 students took part in the show, known as The Rainforst Musical, at Kings on Friday, July 4, before a hall packed with proud parents and VIPs including Mayor of Surrey Heath, Cllr Bob Paton.

is a Rose Conlon production based on deforestation in the Amazon Basin, where hundreds of people flee Brazil’s overcrowded cities in search of a better life.
Throughout the summer term, teachers and pupils at Kings – who took the lead on the project – visited the other primary schools to teach and run through songs from the musical. The preparations culminated in a sell-out concert at Kings, which included primary pupils who will soon move up to the secondary school.
Work on the show was led by Kings’ head of performing arts, Demelza Nelson, and music teacher Lee Wickenden. All money raised will go towards the World Wide Fund (WWF).
Cllr Paton said he was delighted to see the four schools come together to create such a vibrant piece of work.
Head of college at Kings, Judith Langley, added she wanted to thank staff at the primary schools and congratulate them on the tremendous success of the evening.
