Pupil art sale raises funds
NEARLY 200 unique pieces of pupils’ artwork went on display at a school in Frimley, attracting some distinctly ardent collectors – their own parents.
YoungstersatSandringham School took part in a creativity week, during which they were encouraged to experiment with a range of different art forms.
Their work has since been professionally framed and put on display in a school art gallery, open to proud parents to pop in and buy their children’s work.
In total, 180 pieces have gone on display – one per child across Sandringham’s reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes.
Danielle Bennion, Sandringham’s creative development co-ordinator, said the scheme had been a fantastic opportunity for the children to explore their creative talents. “They’ve been so excited,” she said. “They’re as keen as their parents to look around the gallery. Their work has come a long way in a short space of time, too.
“We’ve practised lots of new skills and used many different techniques like sketching and painting. Everyone’s enjoyed experimenting and some have really shone.”
Each piece is on sale for £7.50 and, Ms Bennion added, the school had already sold around 120, the proceeds from which will go towards buying new tablet computers.
“It’s such a nice idea,” she added. “We gave the children the chance to create a variety of pieces each and then choose the one they were most pleased with. We want to say a big thank-you to all the parents who have been so supportive.”
