Barber trims her takings to support Heroes charity

-

HARDWORKING staff at a barber shop in Aldershot snipped for all they were worth to raise hundreds of pounds for military families.

His Hair, in Victoria Road, hosted two days of fundraising for Help for Heroes before handing over the money to military clients and representatives from the charity on Thursday last week. The business, which has operated since 1970, donated 50p for every haircut on July 4 and 5.

This was supplemented by a cake sale and free coffee. A total of £345 was raised, including donations from customers, which will go towards helping the charity support servicemen wounded in conflicts around the world.

There is a second His Hair shop in Mons Barracks – called His Hair Army – which convinced staff that Help for Heroes was the charity they should support.

Kim Woodman, who is a partner at the main shop along with Claire Bell, said she and the other employees wanted to thank everyone who had supported their fundraising efforts.

“We were proud to hold our first charity event for Help for Heroes,” she said.

“We decided on Help for Heroes as, being a military town and having a second shop in Mons Barracks, it was close to our hearts.

“As it was such a success, we now plan to hold a different charity event every year.”

His Hair will also be having a celebration for its 45th anniversary next April.
