Cricket club broken into a fourth time

-

A CRICKET club in Sandhurst has been burgled for the fourth time in just over a fortnight.

Sandhurst Cricket Club was raided three times between July 2 and 9, and suffered more than £3,500 worth of damage to security shutters.

Just a couple of days after chairman Simon Coxwell told the News & Mail about the damage, the club was broken into for a fourth time. The club wrote on Twitter last Friday, it had been broken into again, although it has not been confirmed what was taken, and the club has called on people to keep a look-out and report rumours or information to Thames Valley Police.

After a failed break in on July 2, offenders returned on July 4, taking spirits, a bike, and a charity cash collection.

Mr Coxwell said it was a ‘simply huge’ blow for the club, based in Sandhurst Memorial Park next to Sandhurst Town Council.

In a statement following the third break in, council executive officer Stephen Chown said the authority would do everything in its power to support the club.

“This is a significant setback to this hard-working local club who provide fantastic opportunities to play and watch cricket at the heart of Sandhurst,” read the statement.

The council is offering a £500 reward for any information contributing towards a prosecution.

Anyone with information about any of the break-ins, should contact Thames Valley Police on 101 or call the Crimestoppers charity, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
