Budding authors get work into print

-

PUPILS at a school in Hawley became young entrepreneurs for the day by creating their own hardback books.

Year 3 students at Hawley Place School celebrated the culmination of a becoming authors book project with teachers and parents at a book launch on July 4.

Each pupil created their own signature book in which they designed and wrote their version of an Aesop fable.

Austen Hornsby, Year 3 class teacher, said: “The young authors are so proud of their published books and have learnt a great deal about the time and hard work need- ed in producing and publishing a book.”

Pupils had the opportunities to design and lay out their stories and took part in every stage of the book making process.

The proud authors have their hardback versions and also an e-book format version of their book to cherish. In the build-up to the book launch they wrote formal invitations to their parents and teachers, inviting them to the launch celebrating the completion of the book making project.

Cakes and nibbles were also served by the pupils.
