Planting seeds of scientific enquiry

-

YOUNG children explored the colourful and pretty sights of RHS Wisley during a school trip before the end of term.

Last month, Year 3 pupils from St Nicholas’ School in Church Crookham, hopped in the minibus as part of their helping plants grow well topic, which they have been studying in science.

The weather was glorious and the girls were able to enjoy many learning activities outside in the gardens, including studying different types of seed and thinking about the ways in which each seed would be dispersed.

They also took part in a game in which they became seeds, which encouraged them to think about the factors needed for healthy plant growth.

At the end of the day, the girls were able to plant their own runner bean seed in a biodegradable newspaper plant pot, which they had made themselves, and took home to plant in their gardens.
