Hebditch fires Frimley

Frimley ..................... 259 Hampton Hill ........ 256-8

-

JOHN HEBDITCH smashed a majestic 144 as Frimley went joint second in the table ahead of Saturday’s visit of leaders Ripley.

Opener Hebditch blasted 14 fours and 11 sixes in a glorious innings to help the Mighty Geese to an imposing 259 all out.

But Dave Carroll’s men couldn’t quite finish their visitors off, having to settle for a winning draw with Hampton falling three runs short with two wickets to spare.

Needing just 33 off the last five overs, captain Carroll held his nerve and dismissed Tom Hampton and Joseph Lee-Rice in one over to take his fourth wicket of the match.

He then claimed the ball for the 48th and final over of the match with Hampton needing 12 to win.

The second ball of the over was smashed for six by Robert Fillicks, but instead of going for victory, Hampton seemed content just to hold out for a share of the spoils.

The result sees Frimley draw level with second-place Deando Ruxley.
