Group backed by county councillor

-

A FARNBOROUGH organisation has been awarded £1,000 additional funding.

The Mayfield Community Partnership (MCP), a group that works to provide social cohesion within the Cherrywood ward, received the funding from Roz Chadd, Hampshire County Councillor for Farnborough North.

Each county councillor has a budget of £8,000 to spend on local projects or initiatives in their electoral division, of which potential groups and organisations can apply for funding.

The grant can be used for one-off or minor capital projects, that will benefit the wider community.

Sue Hathaway, of Rushmoor Voluntary Services who helps coordinate the MCP, said: “The money will help us to continue to organise positive events in Cherrywood.”

The MCP, which is run by residents, is one of the longest running community groups in the borough and is supported by Rushmoor Borough Council, Hampshire Police and many local schools.
