Rates incentive to fill shops

BUSINESSES in Rushmoor will be offered a 50% discount on their rate payments as an incentive to fill empty shops.

Rushmoor Borough Council has announced it will support the Government initiative in which busi- nesses with a rateable value of less than £50,000 are offered the discount when they set up in empty retail units.

The discount can be claimed up until March 31 2016.

There are 85 properties in Rushmoor that have been vacant for more than a year and meet the criteria.
