Searle continues to build squad to fire Shots ahead

-

BUSY boss Danny Searle has resigned four players with more to come as he formulates his Aldershot Town squad – with newcomer Jayden Harris also being snapped up.

Toby Edser, Giles Phillips, Alfy Whittingham and Lewis Kinsella have all committed themselves to the Shots to delight the club, while Harris is seen as another vital cog in the wheel.

Edser joined the Shots from Nottingham Forest in the summer of 2020 having previously spent loan spells at both Port Vale and Woking.

The 22-year-old scored four goals in 43 National League games for the club last campaign, and more goals are expected of him in the coming season.

American-born Phillips joined Aldershot Town on loan for three months last season from Wycombe Wanderers having previously been part of the Queens Park Rangers Academy side.

The 24-year-old will now join the Shots permanently on a two-year deal after being a consistent figure at the back during his loan spell last season, making 18 National League appearances.

Midfielder Whittingham is back for one year having joined from

Hungerford Town in July 2019 after spending three seasons at Havant & Waterlooville.

The 22-year-old has played 48 National League games for the Shots over the last two seasons, scoring two goals, and will look to increase those numbers.

Defender Kinsella has also signed another one-year deal having joined from Colchester United in 2018 after spending much of his young career in the Aston Villa academy.

The 26-year-old has since gone on to become an Aldershot Town centurion, racking up 101 appearances in the past three seasons.

After a long injury lay-off keeping him out of action for much of the 20/21 campaign the left back is looking forward to pushing on to full fitness heading into a fourth season at the club.

Fulham FC’s Harris has penned a two-year deal.

A central midfielder by trade, he is a product of the academy system at Fulham and has had a brief loan spell at Woking during the 19/20 season.

The 21-year-old now joins the Shots on a two-year permanent deal after having played 19 times and getting five assists in the Premier League 2 last season.
