ALDERSHOT boxer Giorgio Visioli believes he is a “superstar in the making” after delivering another spectacular knockout performance on Saturday.

The 20-year-old produced a stunning left-hand second round knockout of Longbridge’s Samuel Pikire at the Ulster Hall, in Belfast, live on DAZN to make it two stoppage wins from as many fights in his fledgling professional career.

The super-featherweight talent, who knocked out Lee Sibley in the first round on his debut in Dublin in November, was without his lead trainer Mark Tibbs at the weekend as he is out in Las Vegas preparing Johnny Fisher for his fight in Nevada on Saturday.

But with former flyweight world champion Sunny Edwards assisting in the corner, southpaw Visioli had to take a couple of shots from the Midlander in the opening session before delivering the knockout blow midway through the second round.

“I’m still over the moon with that shot. I landed exactly the same shot as I did against Lee Sibley in the last one and I think that is my special move at the moment,” Visioli told DAZN after his fight.

“It could get to loads of people’s heads, first round knockouts, but the job is not finished, I have to put a lot more in in the years to come.

“I believe that I am a superstar in the making.”

After his debut win over Sibley, the former Repton amateur, who opted to turn professional after seeing his weight class removed from the Olympics, said that he had watched his first fight over and over again, and he expects that he will have this showreel knockout on repeat as well.

“I will be doing exactly the same thing for months and months, but at the end of the day I have to back to the gym and keep working hard like I always do,” he said.

“I believe I am the hardest working person in the gym all the time.”

“He [Pikire] was on the floor on his front and I believe it was the right stoppage.”

After the fight, Edwards felt that Visioli, who had not had any stoppage wins in his amateur career, delivered a stunning display in Northern Ireland.

“He did again against a tough opponent,” Edwards said.

“You could see straight away that Pikire came with toughness, grit, took a couple of shots in the first round, threw a few heavy ones as well which we said in the corner ‘Giorgio, just stay away from them, hold your feet, let him come.’

“He did it, he walked him on [to the shot], he hits very hard.

“He gives you a target and takes it away while he hits you and that is what makes him so dangerous, great performance. Perfect performance and [he has] a bright future.”
