Motor show is turbocharged
LARGE STAKE IN EVENT COMPANY
AIRSHOW organisers Farnborough International says it has purchased a 48% ownership of Automotion Events, the company behind The British Motor Show, to support the brand in growing its automotive portfolio.
The British Motor Show is a four-day festival delivering live entertainment, interactive displays and driving experiences for the family. It has been hosted at Farnborough International’s exhibition and conference centre since it was established in 2021, and the event is embarking on its next wave of growth across the 500,000square-metre show site, according to the organisers.
A statement on the Farnborough International website said “operating as a joint venture between the two organisations, the partnership will drive an enhanced show experience that reaches beyond the conventional, stirs the imagination and creates memories that last a lifetime”.
Farnborough International claims to be a catalyst for innovative, inimitable and unforgettable experiences, having a leading exhibition and conference centre, being a world-renowned event organiser and home to leading film studios. It says its investment will also enhance Farnborough International as an incubator, investor and supporter of the events industry.
Andy Entwistle, the CEO of Automotion Events, said: “This is an incredibly exciting step for the business and The British Motor Show brand.
“With over 75 years of legacy, Farnborough International has unrivalled expertise in developing and hosting pioneering events, and we are looking forward to working with the team to propel our show to the next level.
“Thank you for the continued backing of our partners and supporters, I look forward to welcoming you all to Farnborough International Exhibition and Conference Centre this August.”
Gareth Rogers, the CEO of Farnborough International, said: “We are delighted to be entering into this partnership with Automotion Events, ahead of The British Motor Show 2024. We have hosted the show for the last three years and can look forward to hosting many more. This is an opportunity for us to take everything we know from running first-class B2B exhibitions and conferences, and support Andy and his team in growing The British Motor Show and cementing its position as an unmissable family event for the south of England.”
