Have your say on plans for leisure and cultural hub

COUNCIL’S CONSULTATION WILL RUN UNTIL SUNDAY MARCH 24

-

RUSHMOOR Borough Council is sharing the latest designs proposed for the town’s new leisure and cultural hub as part of a pre-planning application public consultation launched on Monday February 26.

The designs have been developed by Rushmoor’s architects before it goes ahead with its aim of submitting a detailed planning application for the site this summer.

They are based on feedback from earlier public engagement where residents and local groups and clubs had the opportunity to share their views on what they would like to see at the new hub and how it would fit in with the wider regeneration of Farnborough’s civic quarter.

The council said the proposed development would bring together leisure, library and cultural facilities, including two swimming pools, a six-court sports hall, fitness suite, studios and a soft play, along with dedicated library areas, community rooms, a gallery and collaborative spaces for art projects.

There would also be a new skate park, destination play area and mobility hub.

The consultation will run until Sunday March 24 with the latest designs available to view and for comment online on a dedicated Farnborough leisure and cultural hub consultation website, which can be found at www. dpp1.co.uk/farnborough/

There will also be three drop-in sessions for people to see the designs, chat to the team and give their feedback. These will be on:

Saturday March 9 from 10am to 1pm at the Princes Mead shopping centre, Farnborough;

Monday March 11 from 2pm to 7pm at the borough council offices, in Farnborough Road, Farnborough;

Tuesday March 19 from 10am to noon at the Princes Hall, in Princes Way, Aldershot.

The exhibition boards will also be available to view at the council offices from Monday March 11 to Friday March 15, and at the Princes Hall from Monday March 18 to Friday March 22.

Cllr Martin Tennant, Rushmoor’s deputy leader and cabinet member for major projects and property, said: “We are totally committed to delivering a new leisure and cultural hub for the town and we are very excited to be sharing the latest designs with our residents for their comments.

“We hope everyone will take the time to come along to one of our drop-in sessions, or to find out more on the website.

“We look forward to hearing people’s views before we submit a detailed planning application this summer.”
