Victim sustains serious injuries in Gardens stabbing
POLICE CHARGE PAIR AFTER EARLY HOURS INCIDENT IN TOWN PARK
A MAN in his 20s was rushed to hospital after suffering serious stab wounds in Aldershot in the middle of the night.
Officers were called to reports of a stabbing at the basketball court in Municipal Gardens at 2.23am last Wednesday. The victim was rushed to hospital where doctors assessed his condition as serious but non-life threatening.
The police arrested three men in connection with the incident and have charged two of them with causing grievous bodily harm with intent. Nathan O’Brien, 24, of Coe Close, Aldershot, and Robert Sifile, 27, of Cambridge Road, Aldershot, were due to appear at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
A 31-year-old man from Aldershot also arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent has been released and will face no further action.
Hampshire police is now looking for anyone who witnessed the incident, and who may have CCTV or dash cam footage. A spokesman for the force said: “We are appealing for witnesses and information after a man was seriously assaulted in Aldershot.
“He suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and has been taken to hospital to receive treatment.
“Officers are working relentlessly to establish exactly what happened and would like to appeal for potential witnesses and any CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage that may help with the investigation.
“Were you in the area at the time? Did you see any suspicious behaviour? Do you have any footage or images that may assist our enquiries?”
