Captive Apache leader Geronimo sits behind the wheel of his Ford as he shows some of his fellow Native Americans around a ranch in Oklahoma. Once feared by the white settlers for his ruthless attacks, Geronimo eventually gave himself up to the authorities in his old age. Kept as a prisoner of war, he was exhibited at shows nationwide before being sent to retire on a reservation. He died on 17 February
1909, aged 79, a shadow of his former self and regretful of his surrender.
