The .75-calibre Land Pattern Musket, or ‘Brown Bess’, was a standardissue gun for the British and, interestingly, fired a .69-calibre ball. Strengths: It was adaptable to variation and lasted a long time. Weaknesses: The ball tended to drop and the aim was inaccurate.
