Defining moment

A close call One of the greatest heavyweight matches of all time, Louis faced Billy ‘The Pittsburgh Kid’ Conn in New York. Conn was the world light heavyweight champion and, like with Schmeling, Louis had underestimated his opponent. Conn stood strong for 12 rounds, until his attempt at a knockout in the thirteenth gave Louis the opportunity he needed to turn it around with a knockout of his own. 18 June 1941
