Shakespeare was widely regarded as a celebrity at the time, so it was a boon for the actors of the company to consult with the playwright himself, who even performed with them on occasion. Shakespeare wrote many of his characters with actors from the company in mind and had to get approval on a plot from the company before commencing with the writing.
