Death of Jesus

When Jesus was arrested, almost all of the men in his entourage ran away. It was chiefly the women who stayed to see Jesus crucified outside Jerusalem’s western gate. Such executions were deliberately cruel and public. Mary Magdalene was among the women and so was Jesus’ mother — they were no threat to the executioners. Here, Mary Magdalene became a silent heroine.
