East­man’s Ko­dak cam­era went on the mar­ket with the slo­gan ‘You press the but­ton, we do the rest’. It was a very sim­ple box shape with a fixed-fo­cus lens and sin­gle shut­ter speed. This meant that any­one could take pho­to­graphs and leave the com­pli­cated devel­op­ment process to some­body else, mak­ing pho­tog­ra­phy a lot more ac­ces­si­ble.

‘Ko­dak’ has no mean­ing be­hind it. East­man said the let­ter K seemed “a strong in­ci­sive sort of let­ter”
