Ar­guably Eng­land’s most fa­mous ma­gi­cian, John Dee was a trusted ad­vi­sor to Queen El­iz­a­beth I and he even chose her coro­na­tion date. He also claimed to have cast a spell on the Span­ish Ar­mada be­fore their de­feat in 1588. As well as be­gin­ning an al­chemist, astrologer, and oc­cultist, Dee was a noted math­e­ma­ti­cian.
